Aston Martin Unveils New Vantage as Formula 1 Safety Car

Aston Martin's latest high-performance Vantage model will lead the pack at Formula 1 Grand Prix events this season as the new Official FIA Safety Car. The British luxury carmaker unveiled a specially modified version that debuted at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix earlier this month.

The 2024 Vantage, packing a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with 30% more power than its predecessor, will helm the formation lap before each race and control the pace if deployed for safety reasons. No engine upgrades were needed to prepare it for this demanding role.

"The new Vantage is the fastest, most driver-focused yet, making it perfect for this unique job," said Roberto Fedeli, Aston Martin's Chief Technology Officer. Key modifications include enhanced aerodynamics via an extended front splitter, rear wing, and aero-profiled FIA lightbar.

Inside, the Safety Car features race-spec Pole Position seats, an FIA control console, and live telemetry screens. Bernd Mayländer, the FIA's seasoned Safety Car driver, praised the Vantage's "improvement in handling and power."

This marks the fourth season with Aston Martins leading Formula 1, reinforcing the brand's motorsport heritage dating back 111 years. Marco Mattiacci, Chief Brand Officer, expressed pride in seeing "the essence of Aston Martin" play such a high-profile role.

The Vantage joins the DBX707 SUV, continuing as the series' Official FIA Medical Car. Their presence amplifies Aston Martin's brand visibility alongside its AMR24 Formula 1 challenger.

Fans can experience the thrill of the new Vantage Safety Car throughout the 2024 FIA Formula One World Championship season.
